What is MedaLux PCO AIR technology?

 

Through the new MedaLux Photocatalytic Oxidation PCO AIR technology, a cascade of oxidation reactions is produced, spreading a dense network of molecules that sanitize surfaces and the environment.

Billions of these highly oxidizing species are created in billionths of a second, producing a cascade of reactions.

 

It has been verified that titanium dioxide is more effective than any other antibacterial agent, because the photocatalytic reaction occurs even when there are cells covering the surface and the multiplication of bacteria is active and effective where traditional chemical sanitizers are less efficient.

 

Titanium dioxide does not degrade and exhibits a long-term antibacterial and virucidal effect.

 

When the MedaLux-AIR device is turned on, the titanium dioxide-light synergistic system activates the photocatalysis process, allowing the titanium dioxide molecule to exploit its own photocatalytic characteristic by generating ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species).

 

The photogenerated ROS can attack the microorganism from the outside, initially oxidizing the cell membrane (mainly by lipid peroxidation) and then destroying nucleic acids, proteins (deactivation of enzymes), etc.

 

A cooperative effect of various oxidizing species (which include hydroxyl radicals, superoxide anions, and H2O2 (produced by photogenerated superoxide anions) which together generate bacterial inactivation.
